20-Something? Your Beauty Questions Answered

Dear Bobbi,

What is the best way to fake a full nights sleep? I’m 25 and it’s hard to always get 8 hours.

Thank you!

Samantha P.

Dear Samantha,

Believe it or not, when you’re sleep deprived, your skin is often dehydrated too. Sometimes just wearing a great moisturizer and, of course, concealer will do wonders. Add a pop of color with some blush on the apples of your cheeks and a few coats of black mascara. A bit of gloss applied not only on the lips but also high on the cheeks will help give you that fresh-faced look—even if you’re exhausted.

Dear Bobbi,

What do you think women should be focusing on as far as skincare goes in our 20s? Do I need a serum?

Best,

Mian V.

Dear Mian,

In your 20s, you should have a basic skin care routine that includes a good makeup remover to properly take off your makeup every night, a daily sunscreen, and a moisturizer. I don’t think it’s necessary to invest in a serum in your 20s. However, it is never too early to start using an eye cream—it’s usually where lines pop up first.

Dear Bobbi,

What kind of beauty should you be investing in in your 20s? Hair? Skincare? Makeup? And where can you save?

Sincerely,

Bethany H.

Dear Bethany,

Besides having a great skincare routine, a great haircut is so worth the investment. If you are short on cash, you can offer yourself up as a hair model on training day at your local salon when haircuts cost a fraction of the price or are sometimes free. Salons are happy to have models that are open to a change—just make sure you discuss with the stylist exactly what kind of look you are after.

Dear Bobbi,

What is the best way to treat (and cover up) acne?

Thanks!

Lila C.

Dear Lila,

The best way to treat acne is first to clean up your diet. Eat more veggies, drink more water, and cut down on processed food. If that doesn’t help, see a dermatologist and see what products are right for your skin. To cover up a spot, choose an oil-free concealer that matches your skin exactly and dust a matching powder on top to lock it in place.
