All Trans Modeling Agency to Open in Los Angeles

It’s been a big year for the transgender community. Andreja Pejic scored a campaign with Make Up For Ever, Laverne Cox posed nude for Allure, and Caitlyn Jenner made her debut on the cover of Vanity Fair and now we can expect to see more trans models on the runway and fronting campaigns with the launch of Apple Model Management in the United States. The Bangkok based agency will be opening a Los Angeles branch this summer that will exclusively represent trans models.

“Our strong commitment to developing them as successful models is never about quantifying or qualifying their gender,” Apple’s Los Angeles director Cecilio Asuncion told The Advocate. “It’s never a question of if they are women or men, it’s about their passion and commitment to being the best possible models they can be.”

Currently, Andreja Pejic is signed to The Society Management in New York City and LA Models in Los Angeles. Women Management in New York City represents Lea T, another trans model who was a muse to Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci and is currently starring in Redken campaigns. We don’t know that these faces will join the roster at Apple but having an agency like this in the United States will not only help in opening more doors in the fashion and beauty industry for trans models but empower them to pursue their dreams without fear of judgment.
