Beyoncé's Hairstylist Explains Her Formation Looks
Beyoncé’s hair is always on point. But that’s to be expected when you grow up going to Momma Tina’s hair salon and have the world’s best hairstylists creating cool AF looks for you on the regular.
Remember that high side ponytail at the 2015 Met Gala?
Or her choppy blonde bob at Vanity Fair’s 2015 Oscar party? Swoon.
But 2016 has been a special year in hair for Bey. She celebrated textured hairstyles more than ever before, especially on tour, drifting from her normal bone-straight extensions and beachy waves to cornrows, bantu knots, butt-length braids, and more - both on and off stage.
If you’re anything like me, you’re probably wondering what inspired Beyoncé and her hairstylist Neal Farinah to switch up her styles on the 2016 "Formation" world tour. Yesterday, the singer released a new video on Facebook of Farinah explaining the thought process: "This year, Beyoncé changed so many textures - straight hair, curly hair," he said. "I love it because I get opportunities to show more diversity and embrace her culture, which is African-American. I love that she incorporates and empowers so many women. And not just African-American women this year, every woman of all colors and all hair textures."
I think it’s amazing that Beyoncé wants to empower all women through her hairstyles, and that she’s especially repping for the brown girls, who’ve been wanting see someone as iconic as her proudly wearing the hairstyles we’ve all worn in our community for years.
For example, these afro puffs, badass buzz cuts, and natural curls! Yas to them all!
Not to mention Bey’s gorgeous texture shown here. Love!
