Brie Larson Wears Face Masks on Flights — And You Should Too

Brie Larson helps her skin glow the same way as everyone else: by standing up for her convictions and wearing sheet masks. She’s been trekking across the globe as part of the press tour for Kong: Skull Island, which no doubt takes a toll on the skin. She took to Instagram with a photo of herself in a Clé de Peau Beauté sheet mask while on a flight from Japan.

“Bye bye Japan. I love you. And thank you @japanairlines_jal for the in flight spa day. It made me so happy and also scared Tom,” Larson captioned the photo. The flight starts to seem much shorter when you realize that she’s sitting A) in first class and B) across from Tom Hiddleston.

Larson looks to be wearing the $200 Micro-Refining Treatment, the second step in an exfoliating treatment that works to “restore moisture to the skin.” That definitely sounds like exactly what anyone needs after a long trip.

Plane air has a tendency to dehydrate skin, so it’s no wonder more people are pulling a Larson — so to speak — or a Chrissy Teigen and applying sheet masks mid-flight. If your excuse is often, “I can never remember to mask” or “I just don’t have the time,” well, good news: You’re stuck in a tuna can in the sky, so you might as well plump up your skin.

“Air travel exposes the skin to a very dry environment which can rob the skin of moisture and quickly lead to redness, dryness, and irritation, especially for those with sensitive skin,” Austin-based dermatologist Dr. Ted Lain tells Yahoo Beauty. Lain suggests applying a moisturizer prior to boarding so skin is prepped for the dry air. If you’re taking a longer flight, Lain recommends using a mask en route “to continue to support the skin in the harsh environment of an airplane.”
