School buses, cafeterias and homework are on the horizon for school-aged children. But, before math problems and essay prompts are assigned, getting kids ready for the day can be a struggle. Making it easier and more fun for parents and their kids, celebrity stylist and Johnson’s spokesperson Josue Perez offers a hairstyle mom and dad can complete on their offspring (and wear themselves, too). Check out this back-to-school “Playground All-Star” braid, which will last through recess, nap time and aftercare activities.

Create a side part on the top of the head and brush hair in the direction you want to create the braid.
Separate a two inch section of hair from the side part to the ear, then pin the rest of the hair back. Within the two inch section, divide the hair in three strands and begin braiding until you reach behind the ear.
Secure the end with a hair tie and brush the hair, covering the end of the braid.
