Iggy Azalea Posts Selfie with Her Plastic Surgeon
She’s admitted to having had her nose done and breasts enlarged, and according to an interview in the April 2016 issue of Elle Canada, Azalea thinks more women — both famous and non-famous — should own up to their cosmetic procedures. “That’s just the reality,” she said. “And I think more people need to admit that…so it doesn’t have to be so taboo —because we’re all doing it anyway.”
Now Azalea has gone a step further, posting a photo on Instagram with her plastic surgeon, Ashkan Ghavami. “Caught up with @DrGhavami today!!!! Incase you were curious… 1. he is hilarious 2. He is my Greek yogurt soul mate 3. He is the reason I have Fabulously perky boobs… (LOL) ALSO he does PRP skin treatments now, which happens to be why I stopped by. Summer is here and you #CantFakeGoodSkin,” the rapper captioned the pic, which got 109,000 likes.
She’s also slammed haters and critics, telling Elle, “All of those women [who criticize someone for having surgery]—if they had $10 million in their account tomorrow, I’d dare them not to change one thing about themselves or at least think about it…And there’s nothing wrong with that.”
The One Product You Need to Get a Model’s Bikini Glow
Wondering what PRP skin treatments are? According to the Bedford Skin Clinic, it’s a facial rejuvenation treatment also known as the “vampire facial.” A clients own blood is injected into the face, and platelets in the blood stimulate the production of collagen, keratin and hyaluronic acid, which in turn help erase fine lines and add more volume to the skin. The treatment improves skin tone and fights the effects of aging. “PRP also works by the clotting ability of the platelets that leads to contraction of the tissues hence making our skin firmer,” the site says.
If the vampire facial sounds familiar, it’s because one Kim Kardashian brought it to the public arena when she posted an Instagram pic that’s not for the faint of heart. Kardashian is mid-treatment, and her face looks like something out of a slasher flick (but somehow, she’s still gorgeous through her “mask). The procedure aired on an episode of Kourtney & Kim Take Miami, in which Kardashian cries through the treatment.
That same year, Bar Rafaeli — the model who’s most famous for her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover and for being an ex-girlfriend of Leo DiCaprio — also admitted to getting vampire facials, according to the Daily Mail. She posted a selfie much like Kim’s, somehow looking ravishing with a layer of blood spread across her face.
The treatment uses a centrifuge to spin blood into platelet-rich plasma before it’s injected into the face, the story says. It is sometimes mixed with synthetic fillers like Restalyne or Juvederm. Then tiny acupuncture needles inject the platelets into target areas of the face.
According to the Bedford Skin Clinic, “The initial number of PRP treatments required varies from person to person. Maintenance treatments are recommended every one to two years depending on skin type and condition.”
