Your favorite 200-year-old Wookiee from the Star Wars universe (alas, not our own), Chewbacca, has a hair routine that is just as high maintenance as that of a beauty editor — but that shouldn’t be surprising considering that Wookiees are 7.5 feet tall and covered head-to-toe in hair. Yesterday, Allure published an interview with Maria Cork, the supervisor of hair in the special effects department for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, out this December. Apparently, it took almost six months to make the four-and-a-half Wookiee suits used in the film. They’re constructed from yak hair and mohair hand-knotted on Lycra.

The products, luckily for this hairy co-pilot, can be found from your local drugstore or Sephora — but they don’t come cheap. Cork told Allure that Chewbacca experiences a unique grooming dilemma called “Wookiee butt,” in which the hairs on his hip tangle after rubbing on his pouch frequently. A pink Tangle Teezer ($15) is used to brush out the snags. Like any beauty editor knows, you need to apply serum on your face and hair before bed — and Chewie’s team makes sure that he moisturizes with Fantasia Instant Oil Moisturizer ($15) at night. In the morning, he gets his hair curled with GHD Heat Protect Spray ($22) and a Wahl styling wand.
And how does Chewie keep his hair glistening after 200 years of protecting the universe? Cork told Allure that Aussie Miracle Conditioner ($3) gives the hair “a really good condition.”
