Oui! French Women Do Have Better Hair Than You, and Here’s Why
Christophe Robin tends to the tresses of Catherine Deneuve, as well as other celebrities, such as Natalie Portman and Eva Green. So you could say the guy knows his way around hair follicles.
All three have gloriously healthy, voluminous ‘dos, and all three go to Robin’s Parisian salon.
Sitting down with Robin at his pop-up space, open through April 21 in lower Manhattan, was a treat, particularly because the hair guru shared the secrets behind the manes of his main ladies. French women, he says, do have their own coiffure rules.
“It’s true that they like low-maintenance, usually. They’ll spend time during the weekend taking good care of their hair,” Robin tells Yahoo Beauty.
Meaning, they prize rich hair masks, like his new and miraculous Cleansing Volumizing Paste (which foams and conditions at the same time), over daily styling products, which can strip your hair and leave it greasy. And they give their chignons a rest.
When Robin heard that I wash my hair every day, he was slightly, shall we say, nonplussed. His clients, needless to say, don’t do that.
“Never. Never more than twice a week,” he says. “They have the culture of deep care.”
