Sarah Michelle Gellar Goes Brunette for ‘Cruel Intentions’ Reboot
Sarah Michelle Gellar is a blond no more! The actress seems to have swapped her soft-blond strands for a much darker ‘do that’s very much reminiscent of the heartless and shrewd Kathryn Merteuil that Gellar portrayed in the classic (to us!)1999 film, Cruel Intentions. The movie is getting a reboot, and Gellar’s character is set to return.
Sarah’s big brunette debut left her bubbling over with excitement when revealing the style via Instagram, captioning the photo: “#brownhairdontcare (actually kind of love it!!) thank you everyone @andylecompte.”

We straight-up love Gellar’s look. And, we’re wondering if we should follow suit and opt for darker tresses this spring too. Jessica Stern, a colorist at Fekkai at The Mark Hotel in NYC spoke to Yahoo Beauty regarding the easiest way to go brunette without having your color look dull.
“In the dying process, make sure the colorist fills the hair with the underlying pigments to be sure the color is not flat,” Jessica explains. Also, never forget to use a color-protecting shampoo and conditioner in order to prevent color fade. Jessica asserts that products geared towards color-treated hair, as well as conditioning treatments are vital after making such a major hair change in order to keep it looking healthy and shiny.
We’re curious to see how long Sarah’s new hair color will last. Maybe it’ll only make it through the filming of Cruel Intentions, but nonetheless, we’re happy it’s happened at all!
