Savannah Guthrie Shares Makeup-Free Photos After Giving Birth
Like most mothers who have just given birth, Savannah Guthrie posed for a few photos. Yet what sets her snaps apart is the fact that that they were shown on television to millions of viewers on the Today Show and circulated on social media pages to even more people.
In the images, Guthrie, who welcomed son Charles Max Feldman on Thursday morning, is smiling and holding her newborn, her second child with husband Michael Feldman. And while most people know the 44-year-old television host best in full hair and makeup, she was completely fresh faced in the pictures.

Of course it makes sense that Guthrie wouldn’t have makeup on — she just gave birth. But people are still applauding her for doing so. “I LOVE that she doesn’t put a glammed up photo of herself after labor. She truly has the glow of a woman who has just given birth! Good for you Savannah,” Rachel Ryan commented on Facebook. Michelle Todd Minor agreed: “The first thing I thought when I saw the pic was how beautiful and glowing she looks. It is nice to see real & natural sometimes, especially at moments like this. She shared an intensely personal experience with the world and did not treat it as a photo-op reality TV show marketing ploy. Kudos!!” Randi Sanchez added, “I love that Savanna is so proud to share this photo, without makeup. Real. It’s beautiful to be real! Congrats to your family!”
Guthrie didn’t get glammed up in 2014 either when she welcomed daughter Vale. “The only makeup I’m wearing is joy!” she recalled on the Today Show. “Honestly, it didn’t even cross my mind to have fixed-up hair and makeup.”
Yet it does for many women. Take, for example, beauty blogger Alaha Majid, who contoured her entire face for a very Kardashian-inspired look during her labor. “I was pausing during contractions and picking up where I left off once the contractions passed. I only packed some of my favorite products in my hospital bag,” she said. There are even articles like “What to Pack in Your Makeup Bag Before Going Into Labor” and “How to Look Great During Childbirth.”
