These #TeamVitiligo Beauties Pose for Meaningful Portrait

Venezuelan beauty Génesis Castillo has an incurable skin disease, vitiligo, that she embraces wholeheartedly — and she encourages others to do the same.

Castillo posted a gorgeous portrait of her and another model with vitiligo on Instagram Monday. Both models are wearing blue denim jeans and cropped black tube tops. Her caption began with a powerful message that reads, (English translation) “Vitiligo is a condition that does not make us different, it makes us special.” The first sentence alone is a lovely reminder to anyone living with the condition that they shouldn’t see themselves as any different from the norm or peculiar, but should seem themselves as unique and extraordinary.

Castillo continued, “This is a small preview of the photos we will present for our awareness campaign and education about vitiligo,” and followed with hashtags such as #TeamVitiligo and #NoCureDontCare #Vitiligo.

While this is only a sneak peek of what Castillo has in the works for her campaign, one can only imagine how many more stunning photos are on the way and the laudable message that will inspire others who also have vitiligo.
