The Cool-Girl Take on Holiday Makeup

Holiday makeup doesn’t have to be about candy-colored sparkle and fire-engine red lips. A deeper burgundy lip and soft smoky gray eye is the cool-girl take on party season. Here’s how to get the look:

Step one: Even out your skin with a BB cream that combines skincare with medium coverage.  Use your fingers to apply and blend.

Step two:Use a brush to put concealer underneath your eyes, but only where you see darkness. Blend with fingers. Choose a color that is one shade lighter than your skin tone.

Step three:Dust an illuminating powder on the top of your cheekbones to add brightness.

Step four: Use a blush brush to sweep a nude pink blush on the apples of cheeks.

Step five:Take a stiff angled brush and fill in any gaps in your brows with an eye shadow that is the same color as your brows.

Step six:Use a fluffy eyeshadow brush to sweep ivory shadow all over the lid and underneath the brow bone. Apply a soft smoky gray eye shadow from the lash line to the crease with a tapered shadow brush. Then layer a slightly deeper slate gray in the outer crease for added definition.

Step seven:Apply black eyeliner from the outside corner all the way across the lashline to the inner corner. With a stiff angled brush, lightly line slate gray shadow across the lower lashline.

Step eight:Brush two coats of black mascara on both upper and lower lashes.

Step nine: Apply plum burgundy lipstick with a lip brush. Then line the outside of lips very precisely with a liner that matches your lipcolor. Finish with a white gloss on the lower lip to make your pout look fuller.
