Yahoo Beauty would like to introduce you to The New-New, a column by Beauty Director Dana Oliver on the newest products, tools, and treatments that she’d happily spend her hard-earned money on.

I’ve come a long way since my early beauty editor days of wearing blush boldly à la Grace Jones. Even though my chestnut complexion can pull off a more dramatic hue, formula and technique also matters. Hence, why I generally gravitate toward blushes in silkier powders, like MAC Raizin (a reddish-brown with a hint of gold shimmer) or Bobbi Brown Berry (a deep berry-red that has a slightly matte finish). While these two shades have yet to let me down, my curiosity was aroused when a box landed at my desk containing the latest blush palette from NARS.

The NARSissist Unfiltered I Cheek Palette is quite the beauté. Inside the mirrored compact are six finely milled blushes (five limited-edition hues and one classic shade) in sheen and matte finishes. When I first went to swatch these pigments, I wasn’t left disappointed by crappy color payoff — what I see is exactly what goes onto my face. So, of course, I had to dab and readjust a little.

As the richer and warmer of the new NARS blush palettes (there’s an Unfiltered II version as well), Unfiltered I gives me everything I need to recreate that fresh-from-vacation glow without actually going anywhere. Stepping into the holidays, I’ve already gotten much use out of Chic (a rich raspberry) that pairs well with this season’s aubergine trend. The opalescent gold shade coined Watch Me makes for a stunning brow or cheek highlighter. And Red has been a go-to when copying this Gigi Hadid runway-inspired eye makeup.

The possibilities of creating multiple looks that take me from office to happy hour (and beyond) are virtually endless with this vibrant palette tucked inside my handbag.

NARSissist Unfiltered I Cheek Palette ($59) is now available at Sephora.com and at Narscosmetics.com on Dec. 15.
