This New Tool Can Literally Dye Your Hair In Seconds

Even if you haven’t heard of Pravana, your hair stylist probably has. The brand has managed to make a name for itself among professionals, and they’re known for their bold, vivid hair colors and hair lightening products. If their name is new to you, their latest tool named the Blonde Wand (launching this October) is sure to get your attention. The Wand resembles a flat iron, and it’s meant to shorten the time it takes to get your hair dyed. It also claims to reduce the damage done to your tresses
Pravana developed their Pure Light Crème Lightener to go hand-in-hand with the Blonde Wand. The president and founder of Pravana, Steve Goddard, told WWD, “If you were to take a traditional flat iron and apply it to foils for highlighting, you could certainly expedite the processing, but, when you pressed down the two blades, the lightener would start oozing out, and it would be a mess. We created the most gentle lightener we could produce, and then created a tool at the optimal temperature that wouldn’t break down this lightener and would allow it to process quickly.”
To use the Pravana Blonde Wand, your colorist would first apply the lightening cream, then place the highlights in foils, and follow by gliding the heated Blonde Wand over the foils. This way, the heat from the Blonde Wand isn’t touching your hair directly. To test its new product, the brand conducted an experiment: It took one model’s hair 40 minutes to turn blonde via the traditional hair-dying process. The model whose hair was tested with the Blonde Wand got the same color in ten seconds.
It’s unclear whether this new innovation will be available to the public or just to salon professionals, but we will certainly keep an eye on it. In the meantime, watch the video below to see how the entire process works.
