What better way to hunker down than a trip to your private island?
After Johnny Depp’s final European tour date with his band, the Hollywood Vampires, in Bucharest, Romania, earlier this week, the actor began his tour break by jetting to his private island in the Bahamas, a source tells PEOPLE.
According to the source, Depp had planned to stay for several days.
Depp and his wife Amber Heard tied the knot on the island in 2015. He purchased the 45-acre private property, which includes six beaches, for $3.6 million in 2004. He has called the tropical getaway “pure and beautiful.”
Depp has been on the road with the Hollywood Vampires – his band with Alice Cooper and Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry – since Heard filed for divorce. They’ve played gigs in Verona, Lisbon, Herborn, Stockholm, Horsens and Bucharest, and will continue the U.S. leg of their tour in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on July 1.
The tour has continued since Heard filed for divorce and was granted a temporary restraining order against him in late May after alleging in a court filing that Depp abused her throughout their relationship.
In response, Depp’s lawyer, Laura Wasser, said in court documents that Heard “is attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse.”
And while the divorce drama continues, Depp has been seen around Europe and visiting places like Dracula’s castle with his bandmates.
“The concerts and the tour are good for him,” a source told PEOPLE. “He doesn’t want to let his fans down. It’s the best distraction.”
Meanwhile, a source tells PEOPLE Heard spent several hours at her divorce lawyer’s office on Thursday and returned to her downtown condo afterward.
