After a mind-bending first season, fans have been eager to know about the 1899 Season 2 release date.

It is a multi-lingual period-based sci-fi thriller created by Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar. They are both creators of the hit German series Dark. Set in 1899, the narrative follows a group of people on the immigrant ship, Kerberos, sailing to New York. Unfortunately, mysterious events change the vessel’s course, unleashing chaos upon the passengers. Will this mind-bending thriller continue for another season?

Is there an 1899 Season 2 release date?

There is no 1899 Season 2 release date as the series was cancelled after its first season.

Apparently, the creators planned 1899 as a 3-season story. After arriving in November 2022, many fans expected another season as the series left several dangling threads. But on January 2, 2023, co-creator Bo Odar revealed that the show will not continue beyond the first season.
His Instagram post contained a letter co-signed by series co-creator Jantje Freise, which read:

“With a heavy heart we have to tell you that 1899 will not be renewed. We would have loved to finish this incredible journey with a 2nd and 3rd season as we did with Dark. But sometimes things don’t turn out the way you planned.”

1899’s viewership numbers didn’t match Dark’s. Unfortunately, for the fans waiting for the series to return, the mysteries of 1899 will remain unsolved unless another streamer picks it up.

1899 starred Emily Beecham as Maura Franklin, Aneurin Barnard as Daniel Solace, Andreas Pietschmann as Eyk Larsen, Miguel Bernardeau as ángel, José Piment?o as Ramiro, Isabella Wei as Ling Yi, Gabby Wong as Yuk Je, Yann Gael as Jér?me, and Mathilde Ollivier as Clémence.
