Here are the 3 shows set for this season of Missouri State's Tent Theatre

With a theme of "Serving Up Smiles," the 62nd season of Tent Theatre will kick off June 6 in the relatively new John Goodman Amphitheatre.

Mark Templeton, managing director of theater and dance, said changes are afoot.

“There will be more premium seat options than in years past,” said Templeton, in a Tuesday release. “Those will be the first seats to go, so purchase your tickets early.”

Three shows are planned for this season:

Beautiful: The Carole King Musical will run June 6-8 and June 10-15.

This musical traces King’s journey from the early days of her romantic and musical collaboration with Gerry Goffin, to the 1971 release of her breakthrough solo album, "Tapestry," and her first live concert performance at Carnegie Hall.

Crimes of the Heart will run June 21-22.

Old resentments simmer and passions bubble up in the Magrath family kitchen in Hazlehurst, Mississippi, where three sisters have reunited for the first time in five years. This Southern Gothic comedy makes the women’s journey of self-discovery both touching and hilarious.

Mystic Pizza will run July 5-6 and July 8-13.

It’s summer in the seaside town of Mystic, Connecticut, where Kat, JoJo and Daisy are waitresses at the local pizza parlor. It’s a moving coming-of-age story set to a soundtrack of 1980s and ‘90s mega-hits. The 1988 film featured Julia Roberts.

All shows start at 8 p.m. in the John Goodman Amphitheatre. There are season and single, standard and premium tickets, as well as group rates.

Tickets are now on sale, and you can purchase the following ways:

  • By phone – call Missouri State TIX at 417-836-7678 or toll free at 1-888-476-7849.

  • By mail – Complete the season ticket order form and mail it with payment to Missouri State TIX, 901 S. National Ave., Springfield, MO 65897.

  • In person – visit any Missouri State TIX box office. Box offices are in Great Southern Bank Arena and Craig Hall, and are open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
