Hurricane victim sheds tears of joy after Jimmy Fallon offers some holiday help
Divia and Terry MacArthur of Lumberton, N.C., got a big surprise when they visited The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The couple had no idea that they were about to be the recipients of Fallon’s “random act of kindness.”
The host approached the couple, who were seated in the audience, and began talking about the home they inherited from Divia’s grandmother. It had been ravaged by heavy rains and flooding as a result of hurricanes Matthew (2016) and Florence (2018).
The MacArthurs were unable to repair the damage, as they didn’t have flood insurance. So Fallon teamed up with Home Depot and Operation Blessing to do it.
“They’re going to come in,” Fallon said. “They’re going to fix your home. They’re going to fix your roof. They’re going to repaint and insulate your house. They’re going to provide a new furnace, appliances, redo your yard, and send in a Home Depot designer to refurnish your home.”
Tears of joy flowed as the two were overwhelmed with emotion. It was a perfect reminder that there are so many things to be thankful for this holiday season.
