55th Dove Awards host announced. Here's who will lead the gospel music awards show

Christian musician Tauren Wells has been named by the Gospel Music Association as the host of the 55th annual GMA Dove Awards to be held Oct. 1 at Lipscomb University's Allen Arena in Nashville.

Wells, who hosted the awards last year, is slated to once again perform as well.

"Last year’s Dove Awards was such an incredible experience, we’ve decided to run it back. I’m so excited to return as host for this year’s Dove Awards. It’s going to be a great night,” Wells said in a release.

Wells is a platinum-selling musician, preacher, public speaker, and father with eight GMA Dove Awards (including Contemporary Christian Artist of the Year and New Artist of the Year), 10 GRAMMY nominations, and a Billboard Music Award nomination. In addition, Wells has achieved seven No. 1 songs and more than 1.2 billion global streams to date.

The Dove Awards are the culmination of the GMA's annual Music City Fan Experience which this year will include Brandon Lake at the Ryman, new artist showcases, a river cruise on the General Jackson Showboat and a ticket to attend the the Dove Awards.
