7 things to do this weekend in Anchorage

Sep. 30—Fall is definitely in the air as we turn the calendar into October this weekend. With that, annual events like the Sitka Music Festival Autumn Classics and the Make It Alaskan market will return. There's also the Anchorage Winter Expo, which doesn't exactly say "fall," if we're being completely honest. There are also musical options this weekend. Here's a look at some of the possibilities.

Make It Alaskan

5-8 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday; noon-4 p.m. Sunday, Egan Center, 555 W. Fifth Ave.

If you're looking for locally made products, the Make It Alaskan market should be at the top of your list. There are more than 50 exhibitors showcasing items like home decor, jewelry, arts, crafts and more. Friday is a 21-and-older shop and sip, and the final two days are family-friendly and for all ages. Admission is free.

Sitka Music Festival Autumn Classics

7 p.m. Friday; 7 p.m. Saturday; 4 p.m. Sunday; UAA Recital Hall, 3700 Alumni Drive

Presented by the Sitka Music Festival and artistic director Zuill Bailey, this weekend features three days of performances at UAA for the Autumn Classics. Friday will feature Bailey and the Calder Quartet, Saturday's performance is by the Mike Block Trio, and Sunday, the Calder Quartet returns to the stage. Tickets for each performance are $41.

Paula Fuga

7:30 p.m. Friday; Discovery Theatre, 621 W. Sixth Ave.

Hawaiian singer-songwriter Paula Fuga has become one of the state's most notable singers. Her "modern Hawaiian soul" sound uses both English and Hawaiian lyrics with accessible melodies. Tickets start at $47.50, with an option to purchase a ticket that includes a donation to the Hawai'i Community Foundation's Maui Strong Fund.

Spark the Fun & Run

2 p.m. Saturday; The Dome, 6501 Changepoint Drive

Spark the Fun & Run is a fundraising event for Girls on the Run, an after-school program that serves elementary school girls in Anchorage and Mat-Su. This family-friendly, high-energy 5K relay is designed to celebrate confidence, originality and giving back.

Afroman

9 p.m. Saturday, Al's Alaskan Inn, 7830 Old Seward Highway

The hip-hop performer who struck gold with "Because I Got High" heads north for an Alaska show this weekend. Not only is he a hip-hop OG, but Afroman announced late last year he was running for president. Tickets for the show are $40.

Scaramouche

4 p.m. Sunday, Bear Tooth Theatrepub

The Anchorage Festival of Music and the Bear Tooth are teaming up to bring this classic silent film to the screen with an infusion of live performances from AFM musicians. On its precise centennial, you can watch this epic tale of love and revenge set against the French Revolution. The AFM baroque orchestra is performing a live score of 18th-century music to accompany the film.
