8 Celebrities That Have A, Um, Unique Relationship With Their Own Blood
Trends have taken a strange turn in Hollywood, and it kind of seems like a lot of celebrities are totally obsessed with blood.
From wearing it to drinking it, celebs are doing the most — and they're not afraid to share it with the world.
Here's what these celebs did with their own blood:
1.Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly drank each other's blood.
It's no secret that Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly like to partake in some unique rituals, but when they revealed they drank each other's blood after getting engaged, some fans didn't believe them. But Megan recently confirmed that it did actually happen — although it might not be as intense as people were picturing.
"So, I guess to drink each other’s blood might mislead people, or people are imagining us with goblets and we’re like Game of Thrones, drinking each other’s blood. It’s just a few drops, but yes, we do consume each other’s blood on occasion for ritual purposes only," Megan told Glamour.
And while she likes to keep things "controlled," Megan admits MGK would probably go all Game of Thrones if given the chance. She noted that he's "much more haphazard and hectic and chaotic" and at times is "willing to just cut his chest open with broken glass and be like, ‘Take my soul.'"
2.Jim Parrack says he drinks his own blood on occasion.
Back in 2014, True Blood actor Jim Parrack revealed that he enjoys drinking his own blood on occasion. He made the confession on the opening night of his Broadway stint in Of Mice and Men and later ended up having to clarify that he wasn't joking. He explained that his thirst for blood was similar to the "reason some people want alcohol" or other drinks. While he says it's not something he does regularly, he noted that he does do it "a couple times a year."
"It’s more like on an impulse. ... I guess the best way to put it is sometimes I just like the way it tastes. ... I don’t mean copious amounts of blood. I’m not getting a glass of it or something. But if you drink it, it does something to you emotionally. It’s hard to describe. It’s kind of like you’re in the moment, and the impulse comes, and…I like it," Jim told Vulture.
3.Julia Fox creates art using her own blood.
In 2017, Julia Fox curated her own art show, titled R.I.P. Julia Fox. Part of the collection of artwork included paintings that she used her own blood to create. She says she used her own blood because she wanted the "show to be as authentic and personal as possible."
"I extracted the blood with a syringe and used the syringe to paint on the silk. It wasn’t as bad as it seems. ... I love the way blood bleeds onto fabrics. I think the color is mesmerizing. ... I feel like blood is so precious, and it’s only right that it be displayed on a fabric which is just as precious," Julia told Huffington Post.
4.Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton wore each other's blood around their necks.
Back when Billy Bob Thornton and Angelina Jolie were married, the couple famously wore vials of each other’s blood. Looking back, Billy Bob says the media grossly exaggerated their "romantic" gesture to make it sound like they were "vampires" who "lived in a dungeon" wearing "quart jars of blood around [their] necks."
"Vial of blood is very simple. ... We were apart a lot because she's off making Tomb Raider and I'm making Monster’s Ball. We were on opposite ends; we see each other for two weeks and whatever. She thought it would be interesting and romantic if we took a little razor blade and sliced our fingers, smeared a little blood on these lockets, and you wear it around your neck just like you wear your son or daughter’s baby hair in one. Same thing," Billy Bob explained.
5.Lil Nas X made a sneaker containing droplets of blood.
Last year, Lil Nas X collaborated with art collective MSCHF to create a limited edition sneaker that featured real human blood. While the musician refrained from using his own blood, it did feature a droplet from members of the art collective.
The design, which used Nike Air Max 97s, was limited to 666 pairs and sold out almost immediately, despite costing over $1,000. Eventually, Nike filed a lawsuit against the shoe maker, saying the product was made "without Nike’s approval or authorization."
6.Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker share photos of their vials of blood.
It's not clear just what Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker have been doing with vials of each other's blood, but they aren't shy about sharing the photos! On two different occasions, Kourtney has shared photos of medical vials of blood, one which was clearly labeled with Travis' name.
While they're probably not actually drinking the blood like their pals Megan Fox and MGK, Travis did use the vampire emoji on some of the couple's photos together. And at one point, Kourtney did comment, "I want to suck your blood" on one of Travis' pics, to which he replied, "My favorite," along with the blood drop emoji.
7.Tony Hawk created a skateboard using his own blood.
8.Kiss printed a comic book using ink that contained their blood.
In 1977, Kiss teamed up with Stan Lee and Marvel to release a comic book that used ink that contained blood from the members of the band. After the blood was donated, it was mixed with red ink and used to print A Marvel Comics Super Special!: Kiss. It sold 500,000 copies and was Marvel's best-selling single issue until the 1990 relaunch of Spider-Man.
"The idea being that every kid or everybody who bought a Kiss comic book in some way was getting a little bit of Kiss' blood in that comic book," Stan reportedly said of the stunt.
