Does Tommy Vega Have Cancer on 9-1-1: Lone Star?
The Season 5 episode, titled “Naked Truth,” will air on Monday, November 4. In the promo video, Tommy explains, “I was on a call with my doctor about my mammogram. She said that they found something… it’s bad.”
Tommy’s health scare comes on the heels of her breakup with Pastor Trevor (D.B. Woodside). Trevor wanted to move back to Kansas and Tommy just wasn’t willing to uproot her kids and leave Austin.
Fans on X shared their worry about Tommy’s health, given the heartbreaking news she hinted at in the preview. Comments included, “Tommy has breast cancer???,” “Tommy, please be okay,” and “Leave Tommy alone — let her be happy!”
Others thought maybe it was too much for the character to go through in the final season. “Poor Tommy Vega! She can’t catch a break! Giving her breast cancer! #911LoneStar writers leave her alone! She deserves a happy ending!,” one fan noted.

More: 9-1-1: Lone Star just paved the way for another original cast member’s exit
In a September 30 interview with TV Insider for their 9-1-1: Lone Star after show, First Response, Torres shed some light on what’s to come for her character — and it sounds promising. She confirmed, “You should definitely expect another wedding” on 9-1-1: Lone Star.
“We all make it to the end of the season, so let me just put everybody at ease right away,” Torres said. “There’s so much that happens in Episodes 1 and 2 that we’ll be living with the repercussions of it actually for more than just one or two episodes.”
She also shared, “Tommy, I think we’re going to see… we’re going to see a side of Tommy that we haven’t seen before. There’s very vulnerable Tommy on the horizon.”
When asked who her character will lean on during that vulnerable time, Torres shared, “I’m happy to say she gets to lean on and expand her relationship with Nancy.”
While she couldn’t reveal how 9-1-1: Lone Star will end, she did confirm what is hopefully happy endings all around. “It ends as it should,” the actor said. “You’ll see us united and you’ll see all those people and all those relationships that everybody out there has invested in for all of these seasons.”
