'9 to 5' and 'Ring of Fire' are highlights of Actors Theatre of Indiana's next season
Comedies with shades of murder mystery and revenge play a big part in Actors Theatre of Indiana's new season. In 2025, an anything-but-idyllic summer home and an office with a chauvinist boss are the settings for musicals "Whodunit" and "9 to 5," respectively.
Before those shows, though, the group will stage a September musical about the life of the iconic Johnny Cash and a story about two people who don't see love coming.
Actors Theatre of Indiana's four-show 2024-25 lineup will mark the Carmel-based company's 20th anniversary. All will be at the Studio Theatre at the Center for the Performing Arts, while a July 3 patriotic show with the Carmel Symphony Orchestra will take place at Coxhall Gardens.
Season tickets go on sale April 26, and individual tickets on June 26. Find more information at atistage.org, or call the Center for the Performing Arts' box office at 317-843-3800.
'Ring of Fire'
Sept. 13-29
Johnny Cash's time in the Arkansas cotton fields, his music career in Memphis, fame and marriage to June Carter are all wrapped into this musical about the star singer-songwriter. It's set to songs that include "I Walk the Line," "Folsom Prison Blues" and, of course, "Ring of Fire."
'She Loves Me: A Holiday Love Story'
Nov. 1-17
In this romantic comedy, Amalia finds Georg to be arrogant, and he finds her to be stuck up. But, in the tradition of movies like "You've Got Mail" and "The Shop Around the Corner," the two end up with more powerful feelings for one another than they'd anticipated. Songs include classics like "Vanilla Ice Cream" and "Will He Like Me?"

'Whodunit: The Musical'
Jan. 31-Feb. 16, 2025
When a rich woman and her maid head to a Connecticut home in the summer of 1931, they find the rest of the servants have quit, save one butler who delivers a warning. The farcical musical mystery continues with the arrival of the woman's niece and her friend, break-ins, gunshots and at least one dead body.
'9 to 5: The Musical'
April 25-May 11, 2025
The musical, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton, takes its inspiration from the famous 1980 movie about three women who become friends while they get revenge on their sexist and cruel boss and build a better workplace.
