Aaron Rodgers Says He's 'Completely Heartbroken' After Season-Ending Injury, Vows to 'Rise Again'

The New York Jets confirmed on their website that the quarterback, 39, was placed on the injured reserve list after the team's Monday night game against the Buffalo Bills. Rodgers will miss the remainder of the season.
On Wednesday, Rodgers posted a statement on Instagram addressing the injury himself for the first time.
"Thank you to every person that has reached out, called, texted, DM’d, connected through a friend, etc.," he wrote. "It has meant a ton to me, and I’ll try and get back to all of you soon ????." The athlete preceeded by opening up about how he was feeling.

"I’m completely heartbroken and moving through all of the emotions, but deeply touched and humbled by the support and love," he added. "?? Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I begin the healing process today. ?? ?? ??."
Rodgers ended the post by congratulating his team for their 22-16 victory against the Bills, writing, "The night is darkest before the dawn. And I shall rise yet again. Proud of my guys, 1-0 ??? ."
The injury occurred near the beginning of the first quarter after Rodgers was sacked by Bills linebacker Leonard Floyd. Rodgers was helped off the field by staff members and underwent an MRI.
Jets head coach Robert Saleh told reporters on Tuesday that he has a "lot of emotions" for the football star.
“I feel more for Aaron than anyone,” Saleh, 44, said. “He’s invested so much into this organization, so much into this journey that he’s embarked on and wanting to be a part of what we’ve got going here. And how much he’s invested in not only this organization, but his teammates, himself, this fan base, the city, so I have a lot of emotions for him."
The Jets also posted a statement on X, formally known as Twitter, confirming the news. "Not the way any of us wanted it to go, but we know the commitment you've made to this team will continue to impact us moving forward. Get well soon, @AaronRodgers12," the team said.

Rodgers was public about his desire to play for the New York Jets after playing 14 seasons with the Green Bay Packers. He signed a two-year, $75 million fully-guaranteed contract that runs through the 2024 season in July.
