‘Abbott Elementary’ Season 4 Trailer Welcomes New Issues And Unwelcome “Solutions”
Class is almost back in session at Abbott Elementary! ABC shared the new trailer for the Emmy-winning sitcom‘s on Wednesday (Sept. 25), ahead of the season four premiere on Oct. 9.
Principal Ava Coleman (Janelle James) is still mocking her teachers and their lack of resources as she opened the trailer, teasing, “We want books. We want paper towels in the class. I bet y’all want raises, too.” Meanwhile, a visit from HR has everyone including Janine Teagues (Quinta Brunson), Gregory Eddie (Tyler James Williams), Jacob Hill (Chris Perfetti), and Mr. Johnson (William Stanford Davis) on edge.
Ava is trying to not have her teachers report her antics to the school board, but that’s just a standard day of chaos at the fictional school.
“We asked the district for more after-school programs,” said Janine in a confessional scene, but her excitement turns into disappointment when she reveals, “They gave us $50 for class pets instead.”
She’s then seen getting bit by a guinea pig as Barbara Howard (Sheryl Lee Ralph) talks affectionately to her new pet fish. In addition to the pets and school dances, a ringworm outbreak sends the faculty into a frenzy with Ava playing no games in her hazmat suit.
“I love you like a son, Jacob, but I will beat you down,” Mr. Johnson states as he attempts to quarantine Jacob. “Cancel classes, burn Abbott down!” Gregory yells comically before locking himself in a classroom.
When speaking with PEOPLE about the new season, Brunson confessed, “It’s gonna be a fun season of TV,” she said without sharing too many details on what’s to come.
Season 4 of Abbott Elementary premieres on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 9:30 p.m. ET on ABC. It will be available to stream the following day.
