Why Aren’t 9-1-1 and Grey’s Anatomy on Tonight?
9-1-1 has been had no shortage of drama so far in Season 8, which kicked off with a three-part bee-nado disaster, beginning with Episode 1, which aired on September 26. The most recent episode that aired on October 24, Episode 5, titled “Masks,” was a Halloween episode that saw Denny involved in an accident that had him pinned against a house by a car while out trick-or-treating. Hen was on the scene and it was very stressful to watch unfold. Thankfully, everything worked out.
9-1-1 fans have to wait just a little longer for Episode 6, however, as it won’t air on October 31. Since the show already had a Halloween-themed episode and since it’s Halloween night tonight, it’s safe to say that 9-1-1 is taking a break this week because people will be celebrating or taking the family out trick-or-treating.

Episode 6, titled “Confessions,” will air on November 7, 2024. The synopsis for the episode explains: “When a toddler falls down a pipe and becomes trapped, the 118 must rely on more than their skills to rescue him. Meanwhile, old wounds are opened when members of the 118 race to the aid of a man dealing with a divorce.”
Rather than airing a rerun of 9-1-1 tonight, ABC is airing a rerun of the game show Press Your Luck.
Grey’s Anatomy Season 21 kicked off on September 26 and has so far aired a new episode every week – until now. Grey’s is set to have 18 total episodes this season, which is a bit less than the typical 24 or 25 episodes of past seasons (but more than Season 20, which had just 10 episodes because of the writers’ and actors’ strikes).
It looks like Grey’s Anatomy may be taking a break because it’s Halloween and, rather than needing to hurry home from trick-or-treating to catch the new episode, you can have your night free to stay out later. The medical drama aired their Halloween-themed episode last week, so it’s not surprising that the show isn’t new tonight.

When will Grey’s Anatomy return? Based on the promo for the next episode, it will be back with Episode 6, titled “Night Moves” on Thursday, November 7. The synopsis for the episode explains: “Teddy and Owen plan a date night that gets derailed in more ways than one; Jo struggles to do it all at home; Mika adds more to her plate to make up for taking time off to be with her sister; Levi is faced with a monumental decision.”
There won’t be a rerun of Grey’s Anatomy airing tonight — instead, ABC will be airing a rerun of Doctor Odyssey, which is a new series that started Fall 2024.
