Adam Lambert Brings Glam Rock to NYFW 2025 in Edgy Rick Owens Thigh-High Platform Boots at Christian Siriano Show
Adam Lambert made a case for bringing back men’s platform boots—as popularized in the ’70s and ’80s with disco and glam rock—in a head-turning pair of Rick Owens tall black leather boots at the Christian Siriano fall 2025 runway on Thursday.
The singer’s statement shoes feature square toes with black plastic grills, a 3.5-inch platform and a clear Lucite 5-inch block heel. The upper is made of flared stretchy black leather that hits at the thighs. They hail from the Rick Owen’s Fall 2023 “Luxor” menswear runway show, which featured futuristic goth and industrial fashion reminiscent of the evil House of Harkonnen in “Dune Two.”

He paired the big black boots with long black leather gloves a tailored brown maxi suit jacket with a silky black lapel.
Platforms have made a comeback in recent years, from chunky elevated sneakers, loafers and sandals to pumps and boots. Styles like Marc Jacobs’ iconic Mary Jane-inspired Kiki Boot, which debuted in 2016, have helped bring back platform boots. The elevated sole helps compensate for the height of the heel, allowing for towering heights without added discomfort.
Lambert’s style often channels glam rock when choosing his bold looks, accented by his signature smoky eye. He’s a fan of platform statement boots and trendy chunky kicks, from Vetements metallic New Rock Edition platform sneakers to T.U.K. creepers. His favorite footwear designers include Christian Louboutin, Rick Owens, Syro and Kurt Geiger.
The Christian Siriano fall 2025 runway took place at Chelsea Industrial and featured shiny, textured red, blue and black metallic designs ranging from sculptural yet minimalist dresses and futuristic leather suits inspired by the automotive industry. Laverne Cox, Tiffany Haddish, Julianne Hough, Katie Holmes and Whoopi Goldberg were all seated front row at the show, which took place on the first official day of New York Fashion Week.
NYFW runs until February 11 and will also see shows from fashion favorites including LaQuan Smith, Michael Kors and Carolina Herrera, alongside debuts from jeweler Alexis Bittar, Gabe Gordon and Vettese.
Lambert made his Broadway debut last year as Emcee in “Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club,” which continues through July.
