Adam Schiff laughs at Republican sign that backfired at impeachment hearing
Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) joined Late Night With Seth Meyers on Monday where the congressman addressed the many signs Republicans displayed at President Trump’s impeachment hearings. As the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Schiff presided over the first round of hearings and was constantly attacked by his Republican colleagues for conducting the hearings according to House rules they themselves enacted in 2015. And though Schiff said he didn’t really pay attention to the signs, he couldn’t help but laugh at one sign in particular that was accidentally complimentary of him.
“My favorite sign, frankly, was one a couple days earlier that said, ‘It’s been zero days since Adam Schiff followed the rules.’ Which meant that I was constantly following the rules,” Schiff said, adding, “finally an accurate sign.”
Some of the signs displayed in the House Judiciary impeachment hearings called on Schiff to testify, even insinuating that he was ducking the process, and Schiff believes he knows why.
“The reason is because this is what Trump wanted,” Schiff said. “So Trump is tweeting out, ‘He should be a witness. He should be a witness.’ And they will do whatever the president asks.
Late Night With Seth Meyers airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on NBC.
