What is Agatha All Along about?
Along with the series’ trailer, plot details were released in early July.
The logline reads: “The infamous Agatha Harkness finds herself down and out of power after the suspicious goth Teen helps break her free from a distorted spell. Her interest is piqued when he begs her to take him on the legendary Witches’ Road, a magical gauntlet of trials that, if survived, rewards a witch with what they’re missing. Together, Agatha and this mysterious Teen pull together a desperate coven and set off down, down, down The Road.”
Hahn, Locke and Lupone attended Disney’s upfront in May 2024 and teased a bit of what viewers can expect.
We can say that the coven is strong,” Hahn told Deadline. “We can say that it is hilarious, and deep. And I was moved to work with all these people every day. It was a gratuitous dream that it happened to be this group to go through that together.”
LuPone added that “it’s a musical!” The actress also hinted that “It looks like a 100 million dollar movie.”
“The production design and the set dressers, and the lighting, and the costumes, everything about it, it appeared to all of us when we saw it, that everybody on the creative end were at the top of their game,” said Lupone, who “burst into tears” when they first saw the Witches Road and got on the set. “It’s gorgeous to look at on top of it being a fantastic story.”
Hahn stressed that there would be minimal CGI.
“There is very little that is not practical magic, which is our magic,” Hahn added. “That was very thrilling. [The] sets were incredible and it was like a practical… it just felt delicious. It was a very immersive experience.”
Who is creating Agatha All Along?
Jac Schaeffer, who is under a joint overall deal with Marvel and 20th Television, serves as head writer and executive producer on the spinoff series. Schaeffer also wrote Wandavision.
