'Agent Carter' Sneak Peek: The Return of Howard Stark
Howard Stark is back on Agent Carter and as awful/charming/selfish/entertaining as ever. Though the core relationship of the show remains that of Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter and James D'Arcy’s Jarvis, Dominic Cooper plays the father of Tony Stark with such gleeful abandon that it seems almost criminal that they don’t have their own movie.
Peggy is tracking down her assailants from last week’s episode and her search points her in the direction of the Arena Club — where the mysterious Council (and their hidden-in-plain-sight Hydra logo uncovered last month on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) meets. She goes to the one man she knows who knows clubs.

If Jarvis is Peggy’s little island of British sanity, Howard is an entire ocean of American madness. 1940s Hollywood is the perfect place for Stark to indulge his playboy ways: She finds him surrounded by bikini-clad “production assistants,” nursing a late-morning/early-afternoon/possibly into early-evening hangover, and handles him with an appropriately dry sarcasm.
Hopefully, the show won’t lose Cooper by next season. He’s currently in production on another comic book property: AMC’s Preacher — slated for broadcast later this year.
Agent Carter airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on ABC.
