Al Pacino to Star in Conspiracy Thriller About JFK
JFK conspiracy thriller Assassination has an all-star cast.
Directed by Barry Levinson (Rain Man, Good Morning, Vietnam), the film stars Al Pacino as senior mob boss Tony Accardo.
He features in an impressive roster of acting talent alongside Jessica Chastain, Brendan Fraser, Viggo Mortensen, Shia LaBeouf, John Travolta, Courtney Love and Bryan Cranston.
If those names weren’t enough, Assassination is also being written by two-time Oscar nominee and Pulitzer Prize winner David Mamet. He did plan to direct the film, too, before Levinson got the gig.
Assassination follows a journalist who sets out to discover the truth about the JFK assassination after uncovering evidence the prime suspect Lee Harvey Oswald did not act alone.
The film reframes the assassination of 35th U.S. President John F. Kennedy from the perspective of the criminal underworld, who are long-believed to be behind the killing. Specifically, it’s put forward in the film that the Chicago mob ordered a hit on Kennedy for targeting them.
