Alec Baldwin claims his niece Hailey and Justin Bieber really did get married
Uncle Alec!
Alec Baldwin may be stuck at a table in the back at his niece Hailey Baldwin‘s upcoming wedding to Justin Bieber. That’s because the actor said on the Emmys red carpet on Monday evening that the young lovebirds, who denied they tied the knot last week when they were spotted at a New York City a courthouse, really did say “I do.”
“They went off and got married, and I don’t know what the deal is!” Baldwin, who was nominated in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series category for Saturday Night Live, told Access Hollywood.
Admittedly, Baldwin’s not up on all things Bieber. He said that he and his wife, yoga instructor and author Hilaria Baldwin, text Hailey, who is the daughter of Alec’s brother Stephen Baldwin, “every now and then,” and have met Bieber “one time.” Alec’s older daughter, Ireland Baldwin, is close with her cousin.
Baldwin was also asked if he planned to have a chat with Bieber — about how to treat Hailey — ahead of the wedding. “That’s not my job,” he laughed. “She has a dad, and I’m sure he has a few paragraphs about that himself. So I’m not worried.”
After his quote appeared online, Baldwin seemed to take a step back from it all. On Twitter, he wrote, “What the hell do I know…?”

Hailey and Bieber were snapped going to a New York City courthouse on Thursday, where marriage licenses are issued. People reported at the time that the pair had tied the knot in a civil ceremony with a larger religious wedding (they are both members of the Hillsong Church) in the future. However, in a now-deleted tweet, Hailey said that there was no wedding.
But People has maintained that they’re legally wed. “They didn’t want anyone but their families to know they got married,” a source said. The person added that they don’t consider the courthouse a wedding. That will be the upcoming “big blowout” affair that they plan to do “in front of God and everyone they love.”
Hopefully, Alec Baldwin will still make the guest the list.
