Ali Wong Will Enter Her ‘Divorced Mom Era’ in New Netflix Special
Ali Wong is returning to Netflix with her fourth comedy special. On Monday, the streaming service announced that Ali Wong will premiere Ali Wong: Single Lady, a special about her “divorced mom era,” on Oct. 8.
The new special was filmed during one of her Netflix Is a Joke Fest performances earlier this year. (She sold out 12 shows at the Wiltern in Los Angeles during the comedy festival.) The special will see her open up about life post-divorce from John Hakuta, her husband of 10 years, and her new “quest for love.”

“I didn’t expect the news of my divorce to be so widespread and public,” Wong said during one of her Wiltern shows earlier this year. “I felt really embarrassed and ashamed, but I didn’t realize that all of these media outlets were acting like a bat signal letting all potentially interested men know. I’ve never been pursued this much in my life.”
During the show that Rolling Stone attended, she even opened up about her new boyfriend, Bill Hader, and welcomed him on stage for a part of the show. “Do you want to meet him?” she asked, before he joined her onstage with a rose in hand. “None of the other shows got to meet him.”(It’s unclear if this particular show was filmed for the comedy special.)
Wong serves as the director for Single Lady, as well as executive producer with John Irwin.
Single Lady is Wong’s fourth comedy special on the streaming service, following 2016’s Baby Cobra, 2018’s Hard Knock Wife, and 2022’s Don Wong. She also stars in the platform’s Beef with Steven Yeun, and rom-com film, Always Be My Maybe.
