Southern California indie singer-songwriter Alix Page is back with her brand-new single, “Girlfriend,” since last year’s Goose EP. The track was co-written with Andy Seltzer and Lucy Healey and recorded at Jazzcats Studio in Long Beach, CA.

This studio holds a special place for Alix, as it is where she recorded her very first songs and her upcoming EP, set for release next year.

After a February tour with Milk Carton Kids, Alix wanted to retreat to her roots in music: now, with live elements and a full band part of the new work.

Speaking to the new single, Alix says, “Well, ‘Girlfriend’ is about the early stages of meeting someone new, trying to play it cool, and sucking at it. I don’t know; I just felt like I was back in high school—planning out our future, writing in a diary, making playlists, and hoping they were thinking about me the same way. I wanted to try and capture how sweet and silly and kind of embarrassing having a crush feels, especially so soon after meeting them.”.

Since the release of Old News in 2022 and Goose in 2023, Alix has grown from a bedroom teen who had dropped some high school demos just before the pandemic to an international touring and worldwide recognized artist. She has worked with some of her musical heroes, such as Marshall Vore, Andy Seltzer, Cameron Hale, and Skyler Stonestreet, while she has also been a support act for some ascendant talents such as Gracie Abrams on her worldwide “This Is What It Feels Like” tour, besides having opened for Ella Jane and Jeremy Zucker.
