Alyssa Milano on lack of COVID-19 testing: 'I vacillate between anger, anxiety, and just complete sadness'

On Thursday, actress and political activist Alyssa Milano appeared on Cuomo Prime Time, just one day after revealing on Instagram that she tested positive for COVID-19 antibodies. Milano had symptoms of the disease in April, but tested negative multiple times.

Milano vented her frustration over the inconsistency of tests, and the lack of federal guidelines and help with testing. She said, “I vacillate between anger, anxiety, and just complete sadness.”

Milano also pointed out that since she is a celebrity, she has access to tests and medical treatments that most other citizens do not. Which is why she thinks it is imperative that a federal program be established.

“I'm thinking of the people that don't have insurance, how are they going through this?” Milano wondered. “The people that can't find tests, how are they going through this?”

Ultimately, she believes inaction by the nation’s leaders is to blame for the continuing spread of the disease, particularly the lack of testing. She said, “To me this is such an incredible, incredible failure of leadership and how our government should be our communal care takers.”

Cuomo Prime Time airs weeknights at 9 p.m. on CNN.
