Amy Winehouse documentary gets first teaser: Watch now
Shortly after acquiring U.S. distributions rights to Asif Kapadia’s Amy, A24 has shared the first teaser for the documentary on six-time Grammy winner Amy Winehouse, who died four years ago of an overdose at age 27.
As a raw rendition of “Back to Black” drones on in the background, the clip features footage of the singer in her younger years—before she fell victim to addiction—and features a snippet from an interview that, looking back, feels foreboding.
“How big do you think you’re going to be?” the interviewer asks. “I don’t. I don’t think I’m gonna be at all famous,” Winehouse responds. “I don’t think I could handle. I would probably go mad, you know what I mean? I would go mad.”
A24 says it’s planning for a July release date in the U.S., which would coincide with the fourth anniversary of Winehouse’s death.
