Anna Delvey Joins 'Dancing with the Stars' Season 33

Fake heiress Anna Delvey (real name Anna Sorokin) is joining the cast of Dancing with the Stars after the terms of her house arrest have been relaxed.

Delvey's story became widely known in the Netflix dramatization, Inventing Anna, which premiered in 2022 and starred Julia Garner. She was sentenced to four to 12 years in prison in May 2019 after being convicted of eight charges against her relating to her theft of over $275,000 through multiple scams. Delvey was released on good behavior in February 2021, but taken back into custody six weeks later by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for overstaying her visa. In October 2022, she was released on the conditions she would remain under house arrest.

Per Page Six, "the terms of her house arrest were recently relaxed, allowing her to work and to travel freely within 70 miles of her home. She’s also been given a Social Security number and has been allowed to return to social media."

She never wanted to be known as a scammer, she said. "I just like hate seeing all the scammer and fake heiress headlines. So it's not something I enjoy, like trying to lean in to promote," she told NBC News in 2022. "I'd love to be given an opportunity for people not to just dismiss me as a quote-unquote scammer."

Other contestants on Dancing with the Stars season 33 include Olympic gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik, football player Danny Amendola, The Bachelor's Joey Graziadei, Olympic rugby player Ilona Maher, The Bachelorette's Jenn Tran, Tori Spelling, Real Housewives of Atlanta's Phaedra Parks, model Brooks Nader, NBA player Dwight Howard, Chandler Kinney, Eric Roberts, and Reginald VelJohnson. The season premieres on September 17.
