Anne Hathaway approves: Family turns 'Les Mis' song into quarantine-themed viral masterpiece
Do you hear the people sing, singing the songs of angry men and women stuck inside?
You should.
This week, the Marsh family of six from Kent in the U.K. turned the dramatic French Revolution song "One Day More" from the musical "Les Miserábles" into a parody about being quarantined.
It is brilliant and it's gone viral: The original Facebook post has 6.5 million views and counting.
It's not just that the lyrics about missed sports games, shipping delays, Skyping issues with the grandparents and excessive phone data usage are good, but the harmonies and overlapping verses by all family members are extremely impressive.
Also funny: The video opens with a quick argument between family members, and later in the clip one son holds up a red school jacket on a pole (as opposed to the red flag in the musical).
Parents Ben and Danielle Marsh told the BBC that their parody song's lyrics were "compiled out of different frustrations that everyone has had in the family over the last couple of weeks" and that the family practiced only a few times at the dinner table before recording just two takes of the song.
"Les Mis" Oscar winner Anne Hathaway can appreciate the fact that the kids and parents sang live on camera. She gave the song her seal of approval by tweeted out the Marsh family's video and writing, "Bravo!!!!!"
