BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) – Beckley Events will be celebrating one of Beckley’s famous natives, Bill Withers on July 6, 2024.
Bill Withers Plaza is closer to getting its own statue
Bill Withers made hit songs like, “Lovely Day”, “Ain’t No Sunshine”, and “Lean on Me”.
To honor Withers, the annual Bill Withers Music Festival will be held at the soon-to-be-named Bill Withers Plaza. This is the same location where Beckley Events and the Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce plan to install a Bill Withers statue and interactive park.
Director of Beckley Events, Jill Moorefield, told 59News, “There [will be] eight different groups that will be performing that day between noon and 5. All West Virginia musicians: most of them very local, some of them throughout the state. They will be singing some Bill Withers songs, but they will be singing some of their own as well.”
Beckley Events is hoping to inspire everyone attending through Bill Withers’ unique journey to stardom.
