Anthony Scaramucci says GOP should consider replacing Trump on the ticket in 2020
Former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci said that the Republican party should consider a different nominee at the top of the 2020 ticket. During an appearance on CNN’s New Day Monday, Scaramucci said that “the president is not helping the country.”
Scaramucci further elaborated on comments he made over the weekend after he and President Trump exchanged barbs on Twitter.
For the last 3 years I have fully supported this President. Recently he has said things that divide the country in a way that is unacceptable. So I didn’t pass the 100% litmus test. Eventually he turns on everyone and soon it will be you and then the entire country. https://t.co/BUvwujc6LW

.....other than the fact that this Administration has probably done more than any other Administration in its first 2 1/2 years of existence. Anthony, who would do anything to come back in, should remember the only reason he is on TV, and it’s not for being the Mooch!

In an interview with Axios on Sunday, Scarmucci compared President Donald Trump to a nuclear reactor and said “a couple more weeks like this and 'country over party' is going to require the Republicans to replace the top of the ticket in 2020."
Scaramucci doubled down on CNN, saying the president’s visits to El Paso, Tex. and Dayton, Ohio were a “catastrophe.”
While he said he tried to stay loyal to the president and his agenda because he believes in his policies, he told CNN’s John Berman that he can no longer support President Trump.
“The rhetoric is so charged and so divisive. We all just have to take a step back now and say, ‘What are we doing?’” he said. “He is giving people a license to hate to provide a source of anger for people to go after each other and he does it on his Twitter account.”
After Scaramucci’s interview with CNN’s New Day, he clarified on Twitter why he changed his stance toward President Trump.
To those asking, “what took so long?” You’re right. I tried to see best in @realDonaldTrump based on private interactions and select policy alignment. But his increasingly divisive rhetoric - and damage it’s doing to fabric of our society - outweighs any short-term economic gain.

Several commenters on Twitter commended Scaramucci and his refusal to continue to stand by the president.
Mooch... we don’t care how long it took. As long as you finally got here. Kudos to you. Others should follow your example... #Scaramucci #Trump

Better late than never. Thank you for finally speaking up and speaking out, Mooch 🙏

@Scaramucci Thank you for speaking out, I only hope others follow you.

Others said Scaramucci was too little, too late and that his move to back away from the president fell flat.

Anthony Scaramucci is this year's version of Omarosa. Trump should have never hired him but it's also clear he's now trying to make a buck off his brief intersection with the Trump orbit. Anyone now taking this guy seriously is not a serious person. https://t.co/udYaXqV72m

The president responded to his former communications director on Monday afternoon, saying that the only reason Scaramucci was “upset” was because he “didn’t want him back in the administration (where he desperately wanted to be.)”
Scaramucci, who like so many others had nothing to do with my Election victory, is only upset that I didn’t want him back in the Administration (where he desperately wanted to be). Also, I seldom had time to return his many calls to me. He just wanted to be on TV!
