Anya Taylor-Joy Goes Dramatic in Spiked Paco Rabanne ’90s Look for ‘Furiosa’ Red Carpet Premiere
Anya Taylor-Joy opted for a vintage look for the red carpet premiere of her new film “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.” The actress was joined by members of the cast and creative team for the Sydney premiere of the film on Thursday.
For the red carpet event, Taylor-Joy chose an ornate look from the Paco Rabanne spring 1996 couture collection. The sleeveless minidress was designed with intricate gold and silver beading from the hemline to the straps. The frock also featured a see-through element.

The skirt of the dress featured additional arrow-like pieces jutting out from the garment, causing Taylor-Joy to pose for photographs with her arms delicately held at a distance from the finely created pieces of her dress.
Taylor-Joy’s ensemble also included a coordinating headpiece, which continued the arrow element from a skullcap, designed similarly to the minidress the Emmy-nominated actress wore. The actress’ look was curated by stylist Ryan Hastings.
The Paco Rabanne ensemble originally made its runway debut in the mid-’90s, during the showcase for the fashion house’s spring 1996 couture collection. The look follows a trend Taylor-Joy has seemingly followed for the press tour of “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.”
Taking inspiration from the aforementioned film and opting for looks that complement her method-dressing approach to fashion, Taylor-Joy recently wore pieces evocative of the fiery and desolate setting of “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.”
For the photo call for the film in Sydney on Wednesday, the actress wore a piece from Rick Owens’ spring 2024 ready-to-wear collection, which featured contrasting fabrics in a burnt sienna hue, accessorized with jewelry from Tiffany & Co., for whom Taylor-Joy has been an ambassador since 2021.
At CinemaCon on April 9, Taylor-Joy wore a minidress from Ludovic de Saint Sernin‘s fall 2024 ready-to-wear collection. The look featured S&M edginess and leather, with crisscrossed halter straps and metallic detailing throughout.
“Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” is the prequel to director George Miller’s 2015 Oscar-winning film “Mad Max: Fury Road.” The film stars Taylor-Joy as Furiosa, who battles to return to her home after being abducted by a horde of bikers and drivers in a desolate world. The movie hits theaters May 24.
