The film, set in New York City circa 1965, endeavors to explore what happened in that apartment before Mia Farrow’s Rosemary Woodhouse moved in via 1968’s Rosemary’s Baby. In that film, which was written and directed by Roman Polanski, Farrow’s titular character is a young newlywed who suspects her neighbors belong to a cult, and then fears that the baby she winds up carrying is the son of Satan.

Apartment 7A also stars two-time Academy Award winner Dianne Wiest, Jim Sturgess (Home Before Dark) and Kevin McNally (the Pirates of the Caribbean film series), with a supporting cast that includes Marli Siu (Alex Rider), Andrew Buchan (Carnival Row), Rosy McEwen (The Alienist) and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith (The Split).
