'The Dark Knight Rises': Clip from Blu-ray extras -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO
The finale to Christopher Nolan’s caped crusader triptych, The Dark Knight Rises, may be about redemption, but it’s also about endings. Finalizing Nolan’s trilogy, Christian Bale’s broken down Batman rises up from the depths, physically and emotionally, to defeat his own resignation and kick Tom Hardy’s evil Bane behind.
Check out this exclusive clip from the featurette The End of a Legend, one of the many extras included in the movie’s upcoming Blu-ray combo pack. The Dark Knight Rises Blu-ray, DVD, and digital download touch down on Dec. 4. Hardy, Anne Hathaway (Catwoman/Selina Kyle), Morgan Freeman (Fox), Michael Caine (Alfred), and Gary Oldman (Commissioner Gordon) sound off on working with Nolan.
“It gave me a whole new look at movies,” says Caine, “Seven years ago, when Chris first came to do the first movie, I had never been in any of these great big productions, you know. It was wonderful. It was a whole new world for me.”
Hathaway, who donned skintight black as slippery Catwoman, then slinky black dresses as her alter ego Selina Kyle, adds, “If you can be cop No. 2 in a Chris Nolan movie, or be Catwoman, or whoever, you know that you are in such good hands, and you’re going to have the time of your life, and I’m really going to miss this one, because of what I got to do, but also because of all the people I got to come to work and be around every day. It was a beautiful experience.”
Hardy, completely unrecognizable as muscle-bound Bane, with a metal octopus of a mouth piece covering the front of his face, talks about first seeing Bale in the role. “I remember seeing Christian in the makeup chair, and he looked really weedy, and I thought to myself, ‘I can handle him,'” says Hardy, smiling. “And then I went and got changed into my Bane costume, and started flexing my muscles, feeling confident, and then Batman turned up, and he was about three foot taller than me! And I was, like, ‘Huhhhhhh!’ You know. There’s that 3-year-old in me that’s like, ‘That’s Batman!'”
