'Innocence of Muslims' filmmaker appears in court

Mark Basseley Youssef, the man with multiple aliases who is behind the Innocence of Muslims film, appeared in court today to answer to the charge that he violated his probation stemming from a 2010 bank fraud conviction.
Youssef was convicted in 2010 and sentenced to 21 months in prison. Afterwards, he was “barred from using computers or the Internet for five years without approval from his probation officer,” according to the AP.
In court today, Youssef denied that he violated his probation. The AP reports that U.S. District Court Judge Christina Snyder then set an evidence hearing for Nov. 9.
Youssef has been in prison since his arrest Sept. 28.
