Ariana Grande put a whimsical spin on the skirt suit at a screening of “Wicked” in New York on Monday. Cast members from the new and original Broadway productions were invited alongside the stars and crew of Jon M. Chu’s film adaptation, including Cynthia Erivo. Kristin Chenoweth, who originated the role of Glinda on Broadway, was also in attendance.

For the occasion, Grande modeled an ivory ensemble by Atelier Versace, which consisted of an asymmetrical structured vest with molded cups and silver buttons, as well as a flared skirt. A pair of white elbow-length gloves, pearl earrings and one of the Italian label’s Medusa ’95 handbags topped off her look.
“Glinda is finally here and she is enchanting,” artistic director Donatella Versace wrote on Instagram. “[Ariana] I can’t wait to see how amazingly you portray this character. I love you so much.”
Grande’s costar, Erivo, channeled her character in the film, Elphaba, wearing a green embroidered Louis Vuitton coat, which she previously wore at the 92nd Oscars Nominee Luncheon in 2020.
At the Academy Museum Gala earlier this month, Grande channeled 1950s fashions in a strapless Balmain gown that was based on a vintage design. Grande’s polka-dot frock featured a bow that was tied at the bodice, a belted waistline and a flared skirt, evoking some of the decade’s biggest trends. She accessorized with Swarovski jewelry, including a tennis necklace and dangle earrings.
The “Wicked” star was styled by Mimi Cuttrell, who also counts stars like Gigi Hadid and Madelyn Cline as clients.
The first installment of “Wicked,” Chu’s film adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical, debuts in theaters on Nov. 22. Notable supporting cast members including Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum and Jonathan Bailey. A sequel to the film is slated for a 2025 release.
