Ariana Grande ditches engagement ring, covers 'Pete' tattoo with Band-Aid for first post-split appearance

Ariana Grande made her first public appearance since her split with Pete Davidson — attending the taping of NBC’s Wicked concert special on Tuesday — and she did so without her engagement ring. She also had a Band-Aid on her ring finger covering her “Pete” tattoo.

The singer, who has yet to officially confirm the split, hit the stage to perform “The Wizard and I,” and she clearly wasn’t wearing the 3-carat, $100,000 ring Davidson gave her. It makes sense — according to multiple reports, she returned the ring to the Saturday Night Live cast member at some point since their breakup on Sunday. (She got custody of their pet pig, Piggy Smallz.)

A video posted by makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic, who created Grande’s look for her performance (green lips!), shared a snippet of her performance, and she very clearly was rocking the mic sans bauble.

On that same finger, she appeared to be covering up the tattoo she got with Davidson’s name on it.

Earlier in the day, she wrote on Instagram that her anxiety almost ruined her performance. She had skipped the final dress rehearsal but showed up for the taping. Ultimately, Grande, who is still dealing with the death of ex Mac Miller and suffering from PTSD after the Manchester bombing, seemed to have a great time. She shared a photo with original Wicked cast member Idina Menzel. (Yes, Kristin Chenoweth was there too.)

After the show, Grande wrote on Instagram that she would be taking a mini break from the internet in the wake of her split with Davidson. She noted it was hard not to bump into news stories about herself. However, she deleted the post soon after, and her accounts remain active.

As for Davidson, he is reportedly “incredibly heartbroken” following the split. He canceled a scheduled performance at Temple University for a “Comedy Night Live” due to “personal reasons.”

There is still speculation the pair might still reunite. According to reports, they had quietly broken up before, and since this public separation, they “have not stopped talking,” reports Entertainment Tonight. “In fact they plan on trying to stay close friends — or maybe one day even more than that.”

Who knows — they may be back together by the time A Very Wicked Halloween airs Oct. 29 on NBC.
