Ariel Winter Has Gone Back to Dark Hair After Over 4 Years

Ariel Winter has gone back to the dark side. More than four years after swapping her dark hair for platinum blonde, pale pink, and a strawberry copper shade that she clearly loved and stuck to for a long time, the Modern Family star is a brunette once more.
Winter debuted the change-up on Instagram while promoting a dog food line. Her hair is now a deep, rich espresso brunette that falls to mid-back, styled in loose curls. The video of Winter and her dogs is cute, of course, but fans were all about the hair color.
“YOU LOOK LIKE A DISNEY PRINCESS! Actually you already did but like Ariel before and Rapunzel now,” wrote one. “YAY THE BLACK HAIR IS BACK! IT TOTALLY SUITS YOU SO MUCH AND BRINGS BACK THAT ALEX LOOK!!!” wrote another, referring to her Modern Family character Alex Dunphy.

Some fans thought the return to dark hair could signal an upcoming Modern Family reboot or reunion. “There's more and more clues about a reunion,” speculated one. “I'm so sure a reboot is coming. . .” commented another. Winter didn't share anything about the hair color transformation in her video or Instagram Stories, so this is all speculation for now, but we'd be lying if this hair didn't give us major Alex and Modern Family flashbacks.

During her time on Modern Family, Winter frequently changed her hair color from Alex Dunphy's brunette to bright red or blonde while on a break from filming, but the copper color was definitely her fave. Will she stick to brunette, or is this just a temporary switch-up? We'll have to wait and see what the actor has up her sleeve… or her hair color.
