Ashanti Shares First Video After Welcoming Baby With Nelly
Ashanti and Nelly have officially welcomed their first child together!
On Wednesday, Aug. 21, the new mom shared a selfie and a video of herself at home, revealing to fans on Instagram that she and the rapper had welcomed their baby a few weeks ago.
"Four weeks postpartum," the 43-year-old said while panning the camera up and down her body, showing off her blue robe and shorts. "You have no idea what this body can do," she added with a smile.
She continued in the accompanying caption, "Funny how life’s plans aren’t…always on time.. lol. I’ve been waiting to be a mom for a long time now but nothing could prepare me for EVERYTHING motherhood brings!"
"This is what postpartum looks like I’m loving these super cozy @fridamom shorts! I’m so proud of my body for giving me my baby, baby, baby, baby, baby. ??," she concluded.
A rep for the couple later confirmed to People that "Ashanti and Nelly welcomed their baby boy, Kareem Kenkaide Hayes, on July 18, 2024. The proud and happy parents are so in love with KK!"
The "Foolish" songstress and "Hot in Herre" artist's newest addition comes just a few months before the couple celebrates their first wedding anniversary. Per documents obtained by several outlets, including TMZ, the couple tied the knot on December 27, 2023.
While KK is Ashtanti's first child, Nelly is already a dad to two adult children: son Cornell III, 25, and daughter Chanelle, 30, whom he shares with ex Channetta Valentine. He also helped raise niece Sydney and nephew Shawn after his sister, Jackie Donahue, died of leukemia in March 2005.
