Aubrey O’Day Has ‘Chip’ On Her Shoulder, Labels Addison Rae And Others As Talentless
Aubrey O’Day was pretty bold in her word choice today when she addressed the lack of talent and the talentless artist touting around the music industry today.
Aubrey O’Day Says There Are No Gatekeepers
O’Day didn’t mince her words when she called out the likes of Bhad Bhabie and Addison Rae for dancing and being famous for that or a catchphrase. “Beyonce can release a genius album, and the 2 biggest artists that have huge record deals are Addison Rae and BhadBhabie,” noted O'Day who struggled to say the latter name during an interview on SiruisXM. “Yeah. "Cash me outside girl? Yeah.”
The former Danity Kane group member pointed out. “Ok let's stop pretending they have talent, please. 1, I don't know if what they did. I don't know the dances that she did on TikTok, I'm sure they were very impressive,” she says of Addison Rae an influencer famous for recreating content creator's dances without giving them credit.
Aubrey O’Day Thinks The Industry Is Soft Now
“Um, maybe she should go with Gil and learn Janet Jackson's choreography like we had to,” she says during the SiriusXM interview. O’Day and her former group members' struggle through the industry was documented on MTV’s Making The Band.
We would be shocked if she and the others didn’t say they had PTSD from working on the show and with Diddy but more important;y, navigating the industry during that time. she dared the influencer and the bratty child made famous for disrespecting her mom to
“Stand in front of Diddy, Jay-Z or LA Reid and sing and prove yourself every day, like I had to!”
Aubrey O’Day Says ‘Everyone Thinks Their A Star’
The powerful interview was eye-opening for sure especially coming from someone who has to and is still navigating the industry. “Nowadays, the gatekeepers are gone. Everybody thinks they're a star, everybody can be a star,” she notices.
“You can fart the national anthem on TikTok and you're more famous than me, you're more relevant than me, you have bigger numbers than me,” she continues her rant. “Congratulations.”
The singer made it clear, though, that she will always have one up on the newbies for the hoops that her generation had to jump through to make it happen for their careers. She admits there is a tab bit of bitterness there on her part.
“The old school people that really had to fight through the gatekeepers every step of the way,” she says. “There's a good group of us that have a little chip on our shoulder about how things have transitioned.”
Listeners Of SiriusXM Get It!
The clip was posted to the satellite radio’s TikTok pages and a lot of the followers agreed with O’Day. Not only are they done watching people with no talent become famous, but they are also sick of what that has done to the entertainment industry.
It is noticeably lacking in real, sustainable entrainment. “She's definitely valid, it’s just so easy to become famous these days, you really had to have talent back then, I agree.”
“Because Danity Kane was put through hell to prove themselves and I would still watch every episode put some respect on their talents.”
“The bar just gets lower and lower. People with 10k followers be walking around with security. It’s a mess.”
“Her feelings are definitely valid. True talent and work ethic are missing in today's newbies.”
Was Aubrey too harsh in her observation?
