Aubrey Plaza has new cat cartoon that Amazon Prime Video has its paws on

Aubrey Plaza might have earned a new nickname, and it sounds something like this: "Crazy Cartoon Cat Lady."

The Wilmington A-list actress is producing a cartoon series about a housecat named "Kevin," a comedy that's been ordered by Amazon Prime, according to a report by The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday, May 30.

The report says Plaza and Joe Wengert will write the series and exec produce with Delaware native Dan Murphy, Plaza’s producing partner at Evil Hag Productions. Murphy also co-wrote Plaza's children’s books, "The Legend of the Christmas Witch" and "The Return of the Christmas Witch," its sequel. The series "Kevin" will be animated by Titmouse.

"Kevin" follows a cat that's tired of living with humans. The comedy is loosely based on a real-life breakup, with a cat caught in the crossfire.

“We’re thrilled to be working with Joe and Amazon to bring this cat’s story to the screen. We can’t wait for the world to meet Kevin!” Plaza and Murphy said in a joint statement on May 30.

’Kevin’ cartoon to honor the real cat

Wengert, who is the showrunner for the series, said he's excited to be working with Amazon and his old Delaware friends, Plaza and Murphy. He also shed light on the show's inspirational kitty.

“The real Kevin was with me during some of my lowest moments. This show is my chance to thank him — by creating a world where he can find less of a total bummer situation for himself,” Wengert said.
